Remarks

KA sherd, possibly a shoulder fragment, exhibiting a large firing cloud covering 30% of exterior--the black fabric associated with this firing cloud penetrates 5mm into the fabric. The transition between this firing cloud and normal sherd color is very distinct. There is a significant lamniation or slab division visible in the sherd wall, separating the inner and outer portions of the fabric which in some places appears to be black on red and in others red on red. Inclusions are primarily fine sand, but 5% are medium sand grains dispersed throughout. Only the upper portion of a band of likely hatched triangles is evident on the exterior near the transition from the shoulder to the body of the sherd. The interior surface features linear markings either from smoothing accomplished with textiles or plants or from modeling the pot on a basket. Corrosion is evident on 20% of exterior, and 20% of interior. Sent to Yerevan summer 2007 to be drawn by Hasmik.
