Remarks

A shoulder fragment containing a crudely drawn ornamentation schema with a band of incised hanging triangles sitting above a single incised circumferential line. Both ornaments are barely contained within the fragment--which consists of two mending sherds--and the original shoulder may have included additional decorative elements. The triangles are not at all symmetrical, and some of their sides are double-lined, while some are single. They could also be construed as a zigzag and not hanging triangles... although a very wide and high zigzag. At the most superior preserved portion of the sherd there is a slight incline, suggesting the likely beginning of the neck. The exterior is mottled with Very Dark Gray GY1 3/N, most heavily on the upper shoulder portion. While only medium sand is noted above, fine and coarse sand grains are also present in moderate frequencies. High frequencies of sand perforate the interior surface and the exterior surface is remarkably smooth in comparison. Pale gray corrosion covers 30% of all surfaces. Breaks are rough.
