Remarks

A fragment from a possibly restricted-neck LB jar--perhaps a long-necked jar, but impossible to say without more of the vessel. The less common "double" rim appears to have been fashioned with a broad press tool. While the exterior munsell color is listed above as Very Dark Gray GY1 3/N, it is also mottled with strips of Light Reddish Brown 5YR 6/3 and Dark Reddish Brown 5YR 3/3. The interior features Light Reddish Brown 5YR 6/3 mottling as well. This color may represent corrosion on both surfaces, but that is unclear. It is particularly patchy and thick over the superior rim (contact) surface. The exterior and interior surfaces feature intense, frequent, rotational striations or impressions. All surfaces feature intense pyrite popping. The exterior surface, below the rim, features 3 or 4 linear organic "burnouts" or perhaps haphazard incisions. While fine sand is noted as the primary inclusion above, medium sand is also present in significant amounts.
