A sizable fragment from an unrestricted, medium-sized EB vessel, preserved from rim to body, featuring a less common “collar” neck, as well as a pinch handle. The rim is not preserved over the entire portion of the sherd. The decorative schema consists of a register of geometric points and lines, several of which form triangle shapes, covering almost the entire vessel shoulder and measuring approx. 27mm in height. The ornamental coverage extends over the superior surface of the pinch handle, approx. 36.35mm wide, widening into a herringbone shape there. On the body portion of the sherd, a single area of morphic decoration is also visible, its exact shape difficult to determine. The interior and exterior surfaces were heavily coated with gray dendritic accretion, removed by acid solution—limited traces of the accretion remain on the exterior. The exterior appears to have been highly polished at some point, with significant amounts of it now abraded off. The spaces between each line feature a line of missing circumferential polish/slip. Dense circumferential rotational striations and horizontal burnish marks are are visible on the interior surface. In addition to the dark gray, the interior surface is mottled with 10R 4/3 Weak Red, showing through from just under the slip. In addition to the fine sand, moderate frequencies of medium and coarse sand inclusions are visible in the fabric. Breaks are rough.
