MAE233--radiographed, XRF, SAXS. A fragment featuring the majority profile of a large LB bowl (no shoulder). The rim extended slightly inward and outward, but is generally flat/rectangular in shape. The decorative schema consists of circumferential herringbone incisions (single nest) on the superior rim surface, followed on the external neck by a single circumferential furrow, a register of 3 circumferential, comb-applied wavy line decorations, and four or five circumferential, comb-applied incised lines at the n/b transition. The furrow measures 0.278 cm in width, while the wavy line register measures 1.04 cm in width. The incised comb lines, which follow immediately, begin on the inferior shoulder and transition (weakly) onto the superior body (at least 4, perhaps 5 visible comb lines in total). The comb lines vary wildly between 0.4 and 0.15 cm in width and are spaced similarly inconsistent distances apart. Some of the lines are true incisions, but several consist mostly of circumferentially removed polish. Both surfaces were highly polished at some point, with significant amounts of it now abraded off, particularly on the interior. Dense circumferential rotational striations are visible on all surfaces. The interior and exterior body are both mottled with 10-20% Grayish Brown 10YR 5/2. In addition to the very fine sand, limited frequencies of fine and medium and are visible in the fabric. The external surface displays limited frequencies of larger inclusion and pyrite perforations (very coarse). Breaks are rough.
No characteristics supplied for shoulder.
