Remarks

Clear mica flecking in the fabric suggests that the clay has its origins amongst the micaceous granite Pambakh intrusion of Gegharot. In addition to the brown exterior, a Black GLY 2.5/N covers half of the sherd exterior. Inclusions are find sand, but occasional coarse grains are also present. Delaminated clay layers evidence the slab technology, especially the red interior slab. Very slight linear traces (striations really) are impressed into the interior surface, perhaps from a basket mold or textile. The sherd's interior surface is covered with a great deal of mottling (organics!?) and the exterior is encrusted with off-white corrosion, distributed evenly over 30% of the area. Designated MAE 634.
