The form of this sherd suggests a a classic Kura-Araxes tri-partite beaker/cup, black on black, often with embossed decoration. The inclusions in this sherd are a mix of both medium and fine sand. The interior surface is almost completely covered with pale brown corrosion, encrustation. The belt decoration sits at the top of the shoulder, encircling the vessel. Where the actual interior surface is visible, one can see traces of burnish remaining. Designated MAE 642.
