Designated MAE150--radiographed, XRF, SAXS. A fragment from a very large LB jar, the thickness of the sherd appears to increase slightly as it moves from closer to the neck to closer to the body. The decorative schema consists of two circumferential applied belts that average 2cm in width and slightly flattened at their "apex" so that they approximate trapezoids in section. The two visible belts are spaced 2.8cm apart. Superior to the applied bands are intense lines of vertical polish averaging 1.5mm in width. The remainder of the exterior is covered in dense, circumferential rotational striations. The exterior Munsell should say Weak Red 10YR 5/4 and it is significantly mottled with Very Dark Gray GY1 3/N and Gray GY1 5/N, crazed, and cracked, likely from burning. the interior displays significant cracks and is mottled with 50% with Light Gray 10YR 7/2 corrosion. While band one shows horizontal "motion" or delamination, band 2 shows diagonal motion/offset, as if it was pressed up against band 1. In addition to the coarse silt, significant amounts of coarse and very coarse sand are visible in the fabric and exterior surface. The external surface is moderately covered in pyrite pops, with virtually none observable on the interior surface. Breaks are hackley.
