Designated MAE183--radiographed, XRF, SAXS. A sizable fragment from an LM pithos. Likely rolled rim. There may be no decorations, but there is a likely set of horizontal and vertical polish lines at the upper right of the sherd exterior. These lines are constituted by a single circumferential line of polish just inferior to the n/s transition, from which vertical polish lines emanate inferiorly, averaging 5 cm in length before petering out. Vertical lines on the left side of the sherd are all but completely missing. The internal slip is missing over 65% of the interior, resulting in a Dark Gray, coarse surface. Dense circumferential rotational striations are visible on the internal neck and rim, as well as the external rim. The exterior surface is heavily mottled with yellows, browns, and grays. In addition to the fine sand, significant amounts of coarse and very coarse sand are visible in the fabric. The surfaces are perforated by a highly limited frequency of inclusions and pyrite pops. Breaks are hackley.
