This is a nice upper fragment from a typical LB restricted jar. Its size is not extremely large, but the decoration on the shoulder is dense and relatively well rendered. The hardness value is unusually high and the core banding slightly uncommon with a dual core featuring a darker exterior matrix than the reddish gray interior. While the dominant inclusions consist of medium sand, the exterior core band or slip is dominated by coarse and very coarse sand inclusions. Corrosion is minimal with only 10% of the interior and exterior surfaces covered by light yellowish brown corrosion. The smoothing on the exterior surface following high up under the rim, where some crimping of the rim has left a small line of extruded material. The is a fair amount of abrasion on the top of the rim, much more than anything on the interior or exterior surfaces and likely having something to do with use activity. The interior surface has axes or concavity/convexity changes which are not represented on the exterior--here the neck is more pronounced.
