This is most likely a base fragment from an early LB jar, but it\'s impossible to say for sure because the it\'s a base/body fragment. The convex base shape and nail decorations around the base suggest this. Some color notes: band 1 should actually be 2.5 YR Reddish Brown 4/3, band 2 2.5 YR 2.5/1 Reddish Black, and interior surface 10R 5/6 Red. The interior color was likely an even lighter shade of red, but darker corrosion has changed the surface color considerably. The interior surface is approximately 40% covered by back corrosion. The exterior surface features negligible corrosion. The interior is smoothed, but there is a lot of inclusionary sand visibly poking through the this surface. On the exterior surface, only mica \"pops\" are visible, reinforcing my suspicion that a thin slip was applied, and constitutes most of band 2. No evidence for polishing. The transition from base to body is barely registered on the interior surface.
