Exterior surface is highly mottled from black to dark reddish gray. In the darker areas burnishing is visible, essentially where the carbon gloss technique was effective. The alternating registers of embossed lines and zig-zags are followed by more burnishing, not unrecognizable in form, abraded away, but perhaps horizontal lines. The firing of this vessel appears to have been very inconsistent, because there are not clear indications that this sherd roasted in the Gegharot conflagrations. Interior surface is very rough and covered with outcroppings of coarse temper. There are also some rilling lines present on the interior surface, diagonal to the exterior ornamentations. No corrosion of note.
