Band 2 color should be 2.5YR 4/3 Reddish Brown ONLY. While the exterior is not a pure reddish gray, red tones do carry over onto the internal surface disappearing somewhere around the middle of the internal rim. At the level of the band of nail-shaped decorations, the vessel turns black. In fact, it appears as if the comb lines continue down the vessel and serve as a background from the nail-shaped ornamentation. Rotational scratches are present on both the external and internal surfaces. While the temper of this jar is stated as fine sand, there are numerous grit and very coarse sand inclusions--notable, because intermediate size inclusions are absent. These larger grains are poking through the entire internal surface, but not the exterior. This must occur during drying and/or firing. There is some indent abrasion from a lid. 10% of internal and external surfaces are covered in white corrosion. Fractures are rough.
