Fragment is extremely abraded on all surfaces, which you would expect on the exterior surface of a large vessel base fragment, but the internal surface is also highly abraded. Some of the abrasion may therefore be post depositional. The first core band is visible in the breaks as a clay layer under the internal slip, appearing clearly laminated when looking at the interior surface. There may also be grit, grog, pebble inclusions in the fragment, but they don\'t show up well in the rather crumbly fabric breaks. the interior and exterior surfaces are approximately 75% covered in white corrosion, covering almost every abraded spot. Large amounts of mica visible throughout the fabric. Breaks are generally smooth.
