Remarks

This rim sherd appears to come from some kind of restricted vessel, something with a very straight and acute-angled neck, bizarre form... From the abrasion marks it may have been a cylindrical-necked vessel. Impressions lines and furrows on both the internal and external surfaces confirm that this may well be a handmade vessel. While the dominant inclusions appears to consist of fine sand, there are also numerous coarse sand inclusions in the fabric. Many of these larger particles are visible poking through the internal vessel surface. Lighter external surface may be due mostly to corrosion--hard to tell because there seems to be 10% even lighter corrosion on the gray external surface. No mica popping, breaks are smooth. Pavel says the vessel neck length and angle makes this an LB fragment.
