Remarks

The shoulder portion of this sherd maintains such an acute angle to the horizontal axis that it is almost perpendicular to the central axis. This high location of the vessel shoulder is why the vessel is attributed to the LB, and is also likely a jar. Medium and coarse sand particles are also present. The shallow indentation is located just below the superior rim surface and demonstrates characteristic use abrasion. A layer of clay, perhaps applied in order to finish the indent, ends abruptly just below the indent on the internal surface. It is not as smooth as the rest of the internal surface and extends 1.3cm from the superior rim surface to the internal neck. Rotational striations are present on both surfaces and there are numerous visible coarse sand particles poking through the internal vessel surface. The external surface is 20% covered in yellow corrosion and the internal surface is 10% covered in white corrosion. Breaks are smooth with negligible mica pops on the external surface.
