Some small fragments of charcoal removed from between some of the large boulders in the rock- fall of the trench. This charcoal was found during cleaning, so it will be assigned to the backfill layer-- its context is not overly secure as the soil from which it came was infiltrated with some root growth. Hopefully further excavation of the rockfall locus will yield more secure samples with which to date the destruction events(s). The sample was taken from a triangulated position at 3.82 m W and 1.52 m S of the NE corner of the trench (absolute coordinates TBD): the absolute elevation of the sample is 2283.53.
