Place: Ar/Ge.T19.513

This locus consists of the loose, silty yellow/brown matrix found just east of the LBA wall in T19 and west of the band of dark brown and black mottled soil which is L515, In L513, there is a small post hole (diameter 10 cm) which is just SSW of the cruciform black stain. We took 2 macro-botanical samples from L513, just west of where it meet L515 (Ar/Ge.T19.513.MB.01-2). In the locus we found a squat stone cylinder (Ar/Ge.T19.513.L.01), a ceramic object which may be part of a spindle whorl (Ar/Ge.T19.513.CO.01), and a bone object (Ar/Ge.T19.513.B.01), which Belinda coded as butchery. Along the LBA wall (on its eastern side) we are getting a diffuse linear black stain that runs north/south and another more defined one (much like the ones from L508) which runs east/west and intersects it. We found a small pit, filled with a loose, yellow, sandy matrix which is now L516.
In the SW part of the locus, there are 3 more circular pits (L517, L518, L519) located around the locus (see map), and one half-moon shaped, shallow pit (L520). All of these loci had very low artifact density. In Locus 513, we found a small fragment of a polishing stone (Ar/Ge.T19.513.L.02) and another ceramic “bottle stopper” (Ar/Ge.T19.CO.02). We found two more bone objects along the border between L513 and L515, both are phalanges (likely Bovid), one of which has a hole bored in (but not through) it (Ar/Ge.T19.513.B.02) and the other is highly polished (Ar/Ge.T19.513.B.03), but which Belinda has decided that the are not small objects, but rather butchery. There is a cluster of 3 small postholes on the southern border of the locus, at 2282.70 m. Many of the bones are burned, and many are "clinky" as though this area was used as a latrine or human waste was disposed of here (BHM)
