Place: Ar/Ge.T31.54

This is the area along the western edge of the trench, west of Locus 53. The matrix in Locus 54 is a medium brown sandy clay loam with low to moderate gravel inclusions.

Along the western edge of the trench, there are a large number of small rocks, which are roughly in a line. In between theses small stones, large rocks are becoming visible underneath, which also appear to be in a line. One of the large rocks is ringed above by small rocks (3/4 of a complete circle). This may be a wall, but time constraints prevented us from digging any further in this area of the trench.

We found a portion of a polishing stone (Ar/Ge.T31.54.L.01) at the southern end of the locus at 2282.23 masl. In Locus 54, we found a small ceramic disk (Ar/Ge.T31.54.CO.01) near the center of the eastern side of the locus, at 2283.19 masl. We found a portion of a projectile point (Ar/Ge.T31.54.L.02) in the SW corner of locus, at 2283.19 masl. Give its location in the trench and its proximity to the large rock in the SW corner, this can be considered as coming from topsoil.
