Remarks

This ceramic disk or spindle whirl was unfortunately broken when discovered. Given that we have more than half in our possession it is possible to measure the full diameter of both the disk and the central hole, which is 9.14mm. The surface of the disk is reddish yellow in color. Under this layer and along the breaks it is possible to discern that the fabric of the clay is dark gray in color. The spindle whirl is fairly thin in breadth. While I assume that the object was originally a nice circular form, taphonomic processes -- likely pre and post depositional -- have damaged the edges as well. They are are smooth albeit not perfectly round.
