This fragment is either from an andiron or a hearth. Given the form of the object it is impossible to discern which it definitively belonged to. The fragment is almost triangular in form, with a narrower "end" 31.76mm thick and a wider end (which is where the piece broke off from the whole) that is 45.45mm wide. It is clear that none of the surfaces were overtly treated or prepared (i.e. burnished) on this object possibly leading me to conclude that is belonged to a hearth or oven.
