Remarks

This ceramic disk embodies the primary characteristics of EB Kura-Araxes pottery. It is made from black and red burnished ware, as is suggested by the color, nature of the fabric, and breadth of the object. This disk is not, in contrast to others, near perfectly symmetrical. While it appears to have been worked into a semi-circular form, the edges are far from smooth and the overall morphology of the disk is like that of a rounded square. The sherd is visibly worked, however, it is clear that its makers did not feel compelled to make it into a smooth and even form.
