The fractured nature of this andiron fragment makes it difficult to determine its exact form. It seems likely given the narrow to wide (almost triangular) shape of the fragment that is was either a leg (oriented to the ground) or decorative component (oriented to the sky) . At one end of the fragment it is 28.04mm in width, at the wider area where it was attached to the rest of the andiron (or even possibly table/ hearth) is it 46.30mm in width. The object is only broken on one side. The object is reddish brown in color, although some areas have a grey -- almost smoky look to it.
