A small, mottled LB jar--perhaps a cooking vessel based on the black interior and exterior base surfaces. The restored pot is mostly complete, missing only one triangular fragment and several rim chips. The decorative schema consists of two inconsistently spaced circumferential registers of nail-shaped incisions separated by a circumferential incised line ornament. The nail-shaped incisions are all similarly oriented, with the flat side interior and the curved side superior, usually skewed upper right to lower left. While the exterior color noted above is Greenish Black GY1 5/10Y, it is in fact Greenish Black GY1 2.5/10Y mottled with Brown 7.5YR 5/4. In general, the greenish black predominates below the ns break, and the brown coloration above. The interior surface is also mottled with balck and brown shades. The interior base is ringed with black, but brown in the center. In contrast, the exterior base has the opposite color pattern, with brown surrounding black. The exterior surface has a large amount of wiping and trimming traces while the interior surface hosts numerous horizontal rotational striations. While coarse sand predominates amongst the fabric inclusions, a significant amount of medium sand is also present in the fabric. Sand and reflective pyrite grains is visible perforating 50% of the interior and exterior surfaces. Coding was begun on 2008-8-21 w/AFG and completed on 2008-11-18 after restoration was completed. Needs to be restored.
