A small LM jar with a red, mottled exterior--perhaps blackened by firing clouds--and a series of circumferential decorations on the shoulder. The exterior surface is mottled with the above-noted Very Dark Gray 2.5Y 3/1 and Reddish Brown 5YR 5/3, with the reddish brown shade dominating the upper half of the vessle, above the b/s transition. The interior is mottled with the same shades, with the upper interior reddish brown and the lower portion very dark gray. The decoration schema consists of a cincumferential register of approx. 6 wavy lines bounded superiorly and inferiorly by incised lines, which in turn are bounded by nail-shaped incisions superiorly and oblique hatches inferiorly (of the hatches may also be nail-shaped ornaments--too abraded to tell). After restoration approx 90% of this vessel is present, with minimal gpysum fills. the exterior surface is highly abraded and perforating pyrite and very coarse sand fragments are visible throughout. Pyrite particles and very coarse sand are also visible in the interior surface, which also features rotational striations. Coded w/AFG.
