Locus 3 is small area inside a circle of stones. I made this a separate locus because the color and content of the soil was distinct from locus 2. This matrix also clumps into balls and sounds hollow. 7.5 YR 3/2 dark brown silt with a higher clay content. Locus 3 became a part of locus 8, which had a matrix that mixed that of locus 3 and locus 2.
