Designated MAE1739--radiographed, XRF
A sizable fragment from a large LB vessel body/base. Only 2.5 cm of the body are available for examination at its maximum extent. A portion of the interior body has spalled off. The decorative schema consists of a single application of circumferential oblique nail impressions at the body/base break. The lines average 1.6 cm in length, .2 cm in width, and are spaced on average 0.3 cm apart. Dense circumferential striations are visible on the exterior, while horizontal wipe marks are visible on the interior base (skew also). The exterior is mottled with Dark Gray 10YR 4/1 and the interior is mottled (slightly) with Very Dark Gray 7.5 YR 3/1. In addition to the very coarse coarse sand, significant frequencies of medium and fine sand particles are visible in the fabric. Inclusions moderately perforate all surfaces. Breaks are hackley.
