Designated MAE1743--radiographed, XRF
A sizable fragment from a highly polished LB bowl, it is r/b here, almost a complete profile. Undulations detectable by touch on the interior surface strongly suggest a coil or ring building formation technique. The decorative schema consists of a single application of wavy roulette decoration across the upper shoulder, followed by a wavy register of polish removal or scratch dots, and a single furrow. There is also a furrow/depression positioned at the n/s transition that may be construed as both morphological and decorative. The wavy period (of both the roulette and scratch wave averages 2.7 cm. The roulette motif itself (a pair of dots) has an average width of 0.21 cm. The superior furrow(morphology) measures 0.9 cm wide and the inferior one (lower shoulder edge) measures 0.392 cm in width. The exterior is highly polished at some point, but also highly abraded, particularly on the shoulder and rim portions. Dense circumferential rotational striations are visible on the interior surface, less visible on the exterior. The exterior surface features limited amounts of pale brown gray concretion, particularly within the inferior furrow decoration. The interior is 40% covered by the same. In addition to the fine sand, significant frequencies of coarse and medium sand are visible in the fabric. Breaks are rough.
