It appears that this piece was slipped and smoothed — we can see the slip layer at the left exterior edge of the neck where a portion of the layer was removed.
The oxidation of this piece is unclear in terms of determining if the black coloration on both the exterior and interior was due to firing or not.
Because of the shape of the vessel, it was unclear what its function might have been.
