Place: Ar/Ts.SLT9.12

Large pit dug into yellow clay bedrock, located just outside locus 9 wall. Roman came to site on 9/13/10 to help sample it. He divided it horizontally into 3 pie-shaped pieces, and vertically into three strata roughly 10cm deep each. These vertical strata were designated as sub-loci 12a (top level), 12b (center) and 12c (bottom level, which was closer to 20cm). A final sub-locus 1d was used for scraping the bottom until no further materials were found. Two thirds of the pit was screened with material from each vertical level kept in separate label artifact bags by sub-loci, while the final pie-shaped piece was taken for flotation.

Radiocarbon date from burned pulse seed (Ar/Ts.SLT9.12b.c14.1) came back 2647+/-60 (Iron I).
