This sherd was previously WSAC.17.CO.01.
This chunky, rectangular red-polished sherd appears to be a zoomorphic handle or protome. Toward the top of the handle there is a protrusion that tapers to a fragmentary point. This recalls vessels with nubs, but given the way I (LK) am inclined to orient it, it seems more like the face of a beast, with the sherd then widening to form the head. This is a highly minimalist rendering of an animal head, if the interpretation is correct. The interior Munsell was not recorded because this sample is being sent for INAA.
Initially coded by Katie Kearns. Then revised by LK.
