Remarks

This is the locus for the human remains discovered near the W corner of WSDB. The top elev was taken at the mandible, and the bottom was taken at the bottom of the long bone/femur (and both were the same). There were other bones discovered throughout the surrounding matrix (which is locus 18) but this locus represents what we found more or less in situ. We excavated the following:
general parts Locus 20: 3 bags
mandible: 1 bag
tibia: 1 bag
vertebrae: 1 bag
pelvis: 1 bag
ribs: 1 bag
femur: 1 bag
ulna (unbagged, in box)
teeth: 1 bag
soil samples: 2
The stratum is unclear, because we have not been able to date the vessel in the field; it is an unusual form, with a sharp angle between the neck and shoulder, and the neck is attached in a rather rudimentary fashion, w/ many bulges and little smoothing on the inside of the vessel. Notes on the preservation, deposition, body preparation, etc. can be found in E. Fagan\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s 2013 field notebook. The two soil sample bags were left with the human remains.
