Remarks

11.30.06 A complete, restored bowl in the shape of a half of an egg. There is effectively no base, but instead the bottom of the vessel is rounded, continuous with the arc of the body. Thus, the vessel does not stand vertically, but rather tilts to one side if not propped up a bit. The rim is pointed and continuous. The surfaces are light brown, but there are traces of red slip, especially towards the rim. Was this vessel once red-polished, and the surfaces are abraded, or was there a slipped belt on the exterior of the rim? Not clear. Hamik saw the vessel after restoration and suggests that such vessels come in standardized sizes... perhaps a rations bowl.
