Pottery: Ar/Ts.WSG.19.C.01

This is a nearly complete, rather large storage vessel that was found inside the floor in WSG and, based on its location and the oily ash inside it, is thought to be a cremation burial (although no human bones were found). Approximately one half of the rim is missing, along with one half od the neck and shoulder, however the complete profile is extant. The interior and exterior surface colors were not measured with Munsell because they are both marked by a wide range of browns, ranging from a light, tannish, orange-brown to a very dark, chocolate brown. Traces of polishing are visible on some parts of the exterior. The neck is cylindrical and slightly concave,leading continuously to a rectangular rim. The shoulder arcs gently into the body. The vessel was restored by me and Hasmik Sargsyan. Inessa thinks it should be dated to MI 2b, which is why I've put in this period, but I wonder whether it should be in Group R. Also, Inessa regards this as a closed vessel, but in the Aragats system it's open.
