A red-burnished sherd of a probable protomed handle. But orientation is rather uncertain and it's quite possible that this sherd doesn't belong to a vessel at all. It has two projections, both broken, that project outward and emerge off of two subtle but discernible relief elements that run vertically (?) down the handle. Oddly, above or beyond the projections is another plane of the vessel that is not (or not clearly) a rim, or to allow for that would require orienting the handle so that it projects straight off the rim and the projections angle upwards from the rim. Highly unusual sherd.
This sherd was previously coded as a CO (Ar/Ts.WSH.29.CO.01) but LK changed it to C on 6/20/12 so that it could be fully coded. Sending for INAA.
No characteristics supplied for grip handle.
