This is a very unique plate sherd which we really haven't seen before at Tsaghakahovit, but some comparanda were identified in the 'imperial style' research, including perhaps type 108 from Godin II. The handle might wrap around much of the plate, but we don't know for sure. In any case, the handle extends across most of the sherd, with a real, not broken, edge on one side. The dish is quite flat, which means the inverted cones mentioned above are very broad. There is no dominant band but bands 1 and 3 are the same. Surface colors are variable across the plate, I have taken the dominant red of the exerior and the brown of the interior. Natural surface calsification on the sherd interior and exterior. Rechecked on 06/21/12 before sending for INAA.
No characteristics supplied for shoulder.
