The exterior surface of this large bowl with phiale form is so heavily encrusted that it is nearly impossible to see the vessel's surface. As for the interior, although the surface appears largely to be matte, there are traces of polishing as well. The walls are remarkably thin given the size of the vessel. Mickey regards this form as an Urartian precurser to the phiale. The fabric of the sherd contains a medium sand, but there are some pieces of crushed black stones as well. Diameter may be wrong because I had to use a slightly incorrect rim chart for a vessel this size. A piece of the sherd was later broken off for INAA. Sent for INAA in Feb 2007.
