Aug 2 2008. Saturday. We are continuing to take back locus 127 down to the emerging dark- soil locus 128. The latter locus (128-- dark shiny plastic black soil) is starting to slope upwards towards the east side of the operation, following the topography as might be expected. We continued also to clean and define the wall locus 126, as well as its relationship to the soils to the east and west (loci 128 and 129). For instance, when it is possible to clean the whole top of locus 128, I want to see what happens when it reaches the wall-- I think there might be some mixing of colors in that area, separate from the relatively straightforward color change between 128 and 129 in the north part of the trench. By the end of the day, locus 127 was almost completely removed, though perhaps 0.5 m of deposit and some baulk cleaning remain. I also need to devise a strategy for the west end of the trench, since I neither want to prematurely expose the EB deposits, nor dig a hole around the LB wall (locus 126). The significant find for today was a fragmented sandstone adze head, which came up from under a stone in locus 129, practically in topsoil.
