NT3: GOING TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT CHARCOALY PATCH FROM YESTERDAY IS, THEN DIG EVERYWHERE WE CAN AND GET DOWN TO BEDROCK.
FIRST THE CHARCOAL PATCH, A HARD TROWELLING REVEALED UNDERNEATH IT A COMPACT TAN CLAY SURFACE WITH FLECKS OF CHARCOAL. THE SURFACE CONTINUES IN PATCHY FORM TO THE SOUTH EAST, AND MAY BE PRESENT IN REMNANT FORM IN THE NORTHWEST.
HAVING CLEARED TO HERE, NOW TRYING TO GET TO BEDROCK.
MOST OF THE TRENCH IS DOWN TO BEDROCK, EXCEPT IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER AND THE CENTER, BETWEEN TWO BIG ROCKS, BUT IN BOTH CASES THERE IS NO LONGER ENOUGH ROOM TO MANUVER. GOING TO STOP HERE, AND DRAW SECTIONS AND A FINAL PLAN TOMORROW.
