2008-08-07. Thursday. today i started by removing the group of fallen stones which had been in th ebaulk of the southern trench of T19 and which are now sitting above the new locus 130, which i believe is a continuation of locus 107 from the main trench. these large stones form part of locus 125, which is the collapse event of large boulders which seems to have mostly fallen to the south and east of the current excavation. within this rocky matric was a fairly high number of LB sherds which supports my though that this locus is equivalent to locus 106 from the main trench. the goal for the AM was to get the trench to the point where the PM hours could be spent drawing taking levels and photos-- all preparatory to closing up this trench for the season. the rationale is: the EB section (locus 129) is too deep to finish but too shallow to dig partially and leave, while locus 130 if opened would take too long to close and would immediately create a backlog of materials and faunal remains. so today i cleaned and measured and rationalized the backfill as much as possible.
