Started a new 1x5m ttrench in ELT grid, crossing border between data blocks 1A and 2A. The magnetometry images showed a large, almost 2m wide anomaly in the NW portion of a large room so I put in a long test trench running almost N-S from the north wall of the room down to about 1m past the anomaly. The new trench will be ELT3. The large room in which is it situated is one of several in the ELT area that Adam suggests may be corrals. Today finished locus 1 topsoil and started locus 2 wash layer. This seems to be a compact gravelly layer so hopefully we're not close the bedrock already. Ceramics have a rust colored chunky paste not common to the LB, but there are LB forms and pastes coming out as well. By the end of the day we had reached soft orange clay bedrock in northern half of trench, which will be locus 3. Digging down several centimeters in this sterile layer just to make sure it is in fact bedrock.
