08.07.2008Today was rushed but very productive. While the team worked on cleaning up B11 (the bud) locus 3 for photos I quickly drew the plan and section views. Meanwhile Vahe went to get his father and the tractor. As soon as I finished taking the photos the tractr arrived. We took 2 stones of B11 and 2 off of B10 locus 3. Unfortunately since B10 is behind B09, the largest castone wound up on top of B09, but not quite recovering the chamber. 3 people worked on clearing off the deris and defining the chamber walls on B10 while the rest of excavated B11. Only about 25cm down we found 5 vessels in a small stone lind chamber (aout 50cm x 50 cm). The 5 vessels are locus 6-10 and contents 12-16. I still think that B11 was buil after B07 as the circles of B11 overlaps with B07 and is on top of it. However, what I am now not sure about is its association with the sunken cromlech. I had originally thought that B11 was the bud of this cromlech and it still might be. But from the part that fell within the trench for B11 it looks like he outermost ring of stones of the sunken burial are built up against the bud if not also superimposed on top of it. To really see the situation I would need to clear off more topsoil of the sunken burial and see how large and deep the rest of the stones of this construction are. It is possible that B11 was actually constructed partially on top of B07 and then the sunken one was bult on top off that. However, it could also be that the line of rocks I can see from the excavtions of B11 were just placed last during the construction of both the sunken burial and B11--this line of rocks is the highest and sems to be a dividing line between B11 and the sunken burial.
