Today I focused on what appears to be the floor in WSN. After finishing locus 5, I troweled the apparent floor surface, which is littered with specks of carbon and splotches of clay, photographed it, and took three soil samples. I will hopefully clarify whether this is indeed a floor once I have the profile in the northern quadrant of the trench. The floor was created as locus 7. I also created locus 6 today to capture the dark brown silt desposit in the western quadrant of the trench--the same as the matrix of locus 2 and 3. Most bewildering at this point in WSN is the jumble of rocks in the east corner. Some appear to be part of a linear feature (an internal divider of sorts) but others appear to be wall fall. Hopefully it will be more clear as we proceed slightly further down.
