We spent the day working in locus 06 and locus 08. The new locus (08) was created in the east corner to designate the jumble of stones that was blocking the wall here. Many stones were removed (those that remain will stay in place until we go deeper) and we eventually exposed the entirety of the southeast wall, whose boulders are particularly gigantic. There is one vertical stone that does not appear to be wall fall, given its standing orientation, although the purpose of this stone is obscure (similar to vertical stones found in SLT). Also, the semi-linear "feature" remains in place, for the time being. Toward the bottom of locus 8, after we removed most of the stones, we encountered a matrix very similar to the proposed floor. We are seeing the continuation of the floor in the east corner. Took another MB floor sample from locus 07. We also worked today in locus 06--the western quadrant of the room. Here the situation is a bit confusing. The clean dark wash level continues toward the western/northwestern area, but closer to locus 07, the medium brown deposit is appearing. The floor thus appears to be at a considerable slant and we haven't captured the transition to it in the western quadrant. Will arbitrarily close locus 06 tomorrow and trowel in the area, to try and identify the floor in the northwestern half of the trench.
