Today was a strange day in Tsaghkahovit, because one of our semi-regular subs died in an accident yesterday, so everyone was a little off. This did affect the work, though perhaps not quite as badly as it might have done. In WSI2, the guys dug locus 9 in the NW side of the trench, up to five meters from the NW edge (except for the wheelbarrow ramp, which goes partway through the NW wall). In addition, Roman dug starting from the SE wall and moving toward them, in what was originally Locus 10. However, it became clear that the soil in Locus 10 was the same dark brown, loamy wash as in Locus 9, so I will record both, but 10 was collapsed into 9, which became L-shaped, running along the NW and the SW sides of the trench. In addition, Locus 3 in the eastern corner was dug down, and we tried to find its edges. (Locus 10 was created at what appears to be the southern edge of Locus 3.) Materials from all loci remain fairly low, though Locus 9's large size does mean that it has already produced almost 1 full bag of bone and 1 full bag of ceramics. We also found more of the fineware red vessel that is Locus 8, in almost the exact same place.
