I completed 4 sectors today with Vartan and sub Gideon. They worked very well together, as well as with me. Good conversation too. Yesterday a 16 year-old from Tsaghkahovit drowned. That is sad indeed.
If I stay on top of my game this week, I can complete 2º ha this week and move on to two hectares at Gegharot soon to be TotalStation'ed. Looking forward to riding the УАЗ, although I feel inherently tied to the Tsaghkahovit krew.
During one of the pourrhenks I noticed dried oil in and around one of the depressions in a large boulder. There are many boulders with such depressions, with small rocky debris (reminiscent of pumice) contained within—however, none of these have oil. The oil once overflowed, as indicated by drips down the side. The oil has pooled up down the slope to the depression, and the depression itself. When molested, the less viscous, shiny-black oil seeps out. Indeed, some already had been seeping out when I first saw this. Towards the lip of the depression, at the flat area of the rock, the oil seems to have trapped some plant matter—thin, pulled sections of green stem, perhaps. Vartan had no idea what was up, but Gideon suggested something like little kids putting some kind of black rock on the boulder, which becomes melted by the sun.
