There is another area of black staining coming up in the NW corner of L523. We found a small, squat stone cylinder (Ar/Ge.T19.523.L.02), just west of the block of unexcavated sediment. There are more curvilinear, black stains coming up in the southern end of the trench, though they do not form a clear feature. The soil color in L524 is approaching the brown/grey (ashy?) color of L524 in the area just east of the LBA wall, though the soil remains yellow on the east side of the locus. We removed the block of unexcavated sediment as it was no longer functioning as a way in and out of the trench.
We found another shell (like the one found in L514) in the screened dirt from L524 (Ar/Ge.T19.524.SH.01). We found half of a spindle whorl (Ar/Ge.T19.524.CO.01) just south of the large dressed stone. We took a large sample of charcoal (Ar/Ge.T19.524.C14.01) from the southern part of the locus.
