Narrative

Today was spent entirely in WSAD, as the soil was too wet from the overnight rain in WSAC to continue screening Locus 11. In WSAD, the crew continued to remove Locus 2, while I also declared Locus 3 and 4 as the tops of the partition wall between the rooms, respectively the 'door' area and the rest of the wall north of this. See notebook for sketch and measurements. In the western corner of WSAD it seems likely that there was a gap in the partition wall and it should become more noticeable as we go down in elevation. Most of the day was spent cleaning the top of the wall in these areas, as well as the sides of the walls that have started appearing in WSAD, on the NW and NE sides. The guys moved a number of larger rocks from the center of the operation, including the massive boulder that originally had datum point #1 (for WSAC and WSAD) but was precariously resting on the edge of WSAD and needed to be removed. The second datum point is now on a rock in the NE wall of WSAC. Part of today was also spent trying to see the beginnings of soil changes in WSAD, which have started along the NW side against the wall- a more medium brown color than the rest of the trench, which remains the darker, loamy soil of Locus 1 above. There appears to be some rockfall in the center of the trench which should likely be removed as we continue to go down.
