In the morning, the soil was still too wet and damp in WSAC to continue screening Locus 11, so we began by continuing to remove the Locus 2 matrix in WSAD. I also opened Locus 5 in WSAD, which is an area of lighter brown soil (as opposed to darker loamy matrix of Loc. 2) that hugs the NW wall in the operation. Due to the rain today, the soil color changes were difficult to read in the afternoon after a rainstorm, and we only managed to screen WSAC.11 for about half an hour before stopping. There are a lot of large boulders and rocks in WSAD but it is clear that, like in WSAC, the overburden/wash continues towards the center of the room (southern corner of WSAD) and that a lighter matrix is appearing along the walls. I declared the darker matrix Locus 6 having noticed that it had spread when removing Locus 2 above, and hopefully after removing some of these larger rocks the extent of the change will become more clear.
