I continue to be pleased by the amount of dirt we are able to move each day--I think having an extra two workers has been very useful. But again, we had rain in the afternoon, and rather than wait it out (like we did yesterday), this time we called an end to the day a little after three. The rain was steady, and we all agreed we were at stopping points. I think we may want to consider an earlier start time, if it's not impossible for the workers and the archaeologists with kids? We'll see. But at any rate, we exposed the rock jumble in locus 12 (by the SE wall), enough that with a little more cleaning, we should be able to start removing them tomorrow, after I draw them. The rock jumble in locus 3 (the east corner) is also just about ready for drawing and removal. It is pedestaled on its eastern end, though not yet at the north. Ruben and Adam visited today, and Ruben suggested removing just the top couple, to see what it looks like underneath, and go from there. In addition, we screened locus 11, the N corner, and found one more piece of the lovely red vessel, and a handful of charcoal samples. Despite the rain, a productive day.
